“Hometown Boy was exciting to watch in his prime. He took no prisoners in his quest for victory.
His blazing speed and raw talent secured records at Derby Lane and Tampa Greyhound that are unmatched to date.”-Vera Filipelli
Hometown Boy won the 2007 Derby Lane Sprint Classic winning every round, ran second in the 2007 Derby Lane All-Star Kennel Preview, and lowered the 5/16ths track record at Tampa to 30.01. In all, he won 52 races on one of America’s toughest circuits. He is from a once-in-a-lifetime litter that includes Tampa Speed Classic and Derby Lane Gold Trophy Juvenile winner Brady Thomas, Legends Field, and Miss Merle.
Stan’s Boy Flyer won the 2000 Palm Beach Puppy Stake, the 2001 Derby Lane Weaver Memorial, and the 2001 Matinee Idol champ. He went on to an outstanding career at stud that produced, in addition to the great Stan’s Boy Flyer - Touche Baby litter, Rural Rube Award and two-time All America Ozzie The Man, Southland superstar HDM Juana, Arhoolie, Back River, Van Do, and many others. Gable Dodge topped the U.S. Sire Standings from 2004 through 2006 and is the patriarch of the most dominant sire line in America today.
Touche Baby won the 1999 St. Pete Derby at Derby Lane, ran second in the 2000 Derby Lane Distance Classic, and third in the 2001 Tampa Distance Classic. Along with 2006 Derby Lane Million finalist Joe Hearns, her Stan’s Boy Flyer litter propelled her to the top of the 2006 Dam Standings, and fifth in 2007. Her sire Rodney Ramm set a Dairyland 3/8ths track record in just his second month of racing, but was retired early to stud due to injury.
Touche Baby descends from the great dam Dia’s Stormy Day via Fast N Loose. In addition to Hometown Boy and Brady Thomas, she anchors the damlines of perennial top-5 stud Flying Penske, 2006 All America Dragon Fire, and Southland and Wheeling star Kiowa Mon Manny. Fast N Loose was from a tremendous litter led by Rooster’s Spur and Grit N Steel. Rooster’s Spur was poised to win the 1984 Biscayne Irish-American when an injury kept him out of the final and ended his racing career—he went on to be a successful and influential sire. Grit N Steel won the 1985 Grady Sprint.
Hometown Boy should work well with a wide variety of foreign and domestic bloodlines. HB’s Commander is far enough back in his pedigree that breeding to daughters of Kiowa Sweet Trey, Craigie Whistler and others linebreed to Commander no closer than 4x4.
