Semen is available at all US facilities and through Newpark Stud/Ireland and World Class Sire/Australia.

Maryville Rumble* ran third in the 2003 Irish Derby at Shelbourne Park and was a finalist in the Irish St. Leger at Limerick. He had outstanding early pace yet could stay 550 yards or beyond. A lightly raced two year-old pup, he wasn't given much pre-tournament consideration by bettors in the Derby, but consecutive wins in the first three rounds, a third in the quarterfinals, and a dead-heat second in the semis put him in the final. The 2003 Derby featured 144 starters who were eliminated over five rounds entering the final. To get there a greyhound had to finish in the top four in the first round and the top three in every round thereafter. Climate Control went on to a two-length win over Mustang Mega with another half-length back to the fast closing Maryville Rumble. He made the final of the prestigious Irish St. Leger at Limerick, but was scratched due to injury.

His sire, Smooth Rumble*, won the 1997 Australian Cup over 563 yards at Sandown Park. He was imported to Ireland by Sean Bourke and started his career at stud at Newpark Kennels in Clonmel in February of 1998. His first crop of pups scored 19 Open wins in 2000, 182 in 2001 and 203 in 2002 and major Stakes winners soon followed. In the 2001 TV Trophy final at Wimbledon, won by Killeacle Phoebe, four of the six starters were his offspring. Other top-flight performers include Centour Corker, Serene Rumble, Maxie Rumble, Metric Tiger, Mega Delight, Ericas Equity, Steamboat Rumble, Keltie Sparkler and many, many others. As a damsire, his daughters have thrown the likes of two-time English Derby winner Westmead Hawk and Lincoln star Team Record*. Despite their addiction to early speed, Smooth Rumble* was revered by Irish breeders for the consistency and quality of his offspring. The fact that he threw a great number of stayers didn't deter them from breeding to him.

Ginger, Smooth Rumble's sire, won the Australian Cup in 1989. His line is best known for instilling a tremendous chase instinct in his progeny. The Ginger line boasts four of Australia's more promising young sires in Bombastic Shiraz, Elgrando, November Fury, and Primo Uno.

Rumble's damsire, Spiral Nikita, won the 1997 Guinness 600 at Shelbourne Park and his sister Tina Marina won the 1996 Irish Derby. He also threw pups who won over a variety of distances. They read like a Who's Who of  Irish and UK racing: Late Late Show, Never Give Up, Special Trick, Bypass Byway, etc.  He promises to be a great a damsire as well, with second-generation offspring such as Like A Shot, Droopys Maldini, Heart Rumble and Nikita Billie.

Maryville Rumble's damline is that of the great Sheila At Last, dam of Monalee Champion whom many still consider the greatest Irish sire ever. His son Share Profit* has exerted a tremendous influence on U.S. breeding. Another important import from the Sheila At Last damline was David Cahill's Monalee Wonder* whose position in U.S. greyhound pedigrees is secure thanks to his role in the damline of current #1 sire Gable Dodge. Note the cross to Maythorn Pride in that pedigree, a common feature in breeding this line. Monalee Wonder* is also the sire of the terrific racer, but ill-fated sire John Denton whose early death after a promising start in his career at stud robbed the breed of a potential star. John Denton produced Aggie Russo, dam of Uncle Albert, Killer Diller, Paperback Rider and Aggie Mae, dam of Hall of Fame sprinter EJ's Douglas. Another daughter, Loose Spender, produced Rudy Vallie.

Finally, the Sheilas Prize branch of the Sheila At Last damline, from which Maryville Rumble* descends, has produced a number of important racers and sires. The most influential is the fine sire Flashy Sir, sire of Phantom Flash, Ireland's Stud Dog of the Year for 1996. He is the sire of none other than Spiral Nikita and 1996 Irish Derby winner Tina Marina! Another top dog from the Sheilas Prize branch is Pampered Rover, winner of the 1978 Irish Derby. Game Ball was an elite racer who serves in the damsire role in the pedigrees of Droopys Agassi, El Premier, and others. Other Sheilas Prize descendants are Concentration, winner of the 1990 English Laurels and second in the 1991 Irish Laurels; and Double Bid, sire of Eyeman, undefeated winner of the 1998 Irish Derby. Again, note the cross of the Sheila At Last and Maythorn Pride damlines in Eyeman's pedigree.

Unlike many imports, Rumble's pedigree suggests that there should be few worries that his progeny will be short here. He was a sprinter who ran well at both 525 to 550 yards and could win from the front or come from off the pace. He will serve as an outcross and can be bred to almost any U.S. bred female because his bloodlines have simply not been available here in the past.

"I was lucky enough to see the 2003 Irish Derby"live"...was there for the semi-finals as well. Even backed Maryville Rumble in the final. My opinion of him as a racer is one of being extremely genuine and tough. In no way was Maryville Rumble "lucky" to make the final of the 2003 Irish Derby! Both times he was posted and had to dig deep and chase hard to an eventual well-deserved third place finish in the final. Climate Control was all class, Mustang Mega was electrifying and Maryville Rumble all guts."
